Splashing into Summer with a Little Color

Updated: Feb 3, 2019

Hello lovelies,

As some may know, I was recently in Capri, Italy for my wedding anniversary a little bit ago. It was the second time I’ve been since my last trip over 10 years ago, and is just a place I haven’t been able to forget. The vibrancy of Italian landscapes has really inspired me to home some of those beautiful color schemes into my life! And with summer is finally making it's decent upon us, I thought what better way to splash into the season than with a bright swatch of colors to get inspired by! Below is a sample of a color palette that I feel can brighten our homes and/or wardrobe with summer finally here (as illustrated by flowers).

Yellow Calla Lilies

We love how this flower can brighten any space! They are long lasting and available all year round. In fact, we love them so much that we used them in one of our hotel installs at the JW Marriott Houston Downtown in March, which you can see more of here.

Coral Charm Peonies

These beauties are currently in season and we couldn't wait to design with them for a very special wedding we had earlier this month. Interesting fact, they fade in color as they get older.

Blue Hydrangea

Obviously we can take notes from Dolce and Gabbana who just launched their Fall Collection called, Hortensia. This is more of a pastel look with lilac and soft blue hydrangeas featured. We even did an arrangement for the brand to reflect this collection, which you can see here. My favorite part of this collection is that it is true to it’s name which is Italian for Hydrangea. Also, it’s clean, simple chic, our go to pillars in design. Ps. stay tuned for our Fourth of July install at the JW Marriott Houston Downtown where we are featuring them!

Orange Ranunculus

Sadly these robust flowers are finally finished with their season. However this pop of color can brighten any space and their natural curves are a reminder to never strive for perfection. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Icelandic Poppies

These “international gurus” are sadly finished for the season but they are still to be noted. Their colorful charm and nonchalant attitude in structure, can only remind you to not take life so seriously. Learn to dance in the rain they say. Icelandic Poppies bring about cheer in any space and are great to add color without being too bold.

I take inspiration wherever I am and my trip to Capri was filled with just that. I'll feature my must-haves from the trip, later this week!

Ciao xx
