Producing almost 1 billion tulips annually, Virginia based Bloomia has made its mark on the floral industry once again. This exclusive tulip farm opened its doors to the public for the first time ever in company history for one night only for the recent Field to Vase dinner by Certified American Grown.
Summary, it was nothing short of breathtaking. Werner Jansen, General Manager at Bloomia USA, had one request for the night - to create a fresh and cutting edge avant-garde experience showcasing tulips in a modern and fresh way. The result, a clean and editorial design experience you’d expect straight out of a magazine.
The Field to Vase dinner is tailored to bring individuals from all walks of life together to share in the joy of flowers and ultimately support the concept of American Grown. Lead by Administrator Kasey Cronquist, these dinners are important as they allow American Grown Certified farms to showcase their products and partner with a Lead Floral Designer to tell their story through creating an unforgettable event.
This dinner travels around the USA and this past weekend, on June 1st, we experienced true tulip magic in King George, Virginia. It took a team of 15 leading floral designers and flower farmers from across the country to bring to life Featured Lead Designer Kelly Shore’s hanging tulip chandelier design.
Over 7,200 tulips were used in the 36 hanging chandeliers alone and guests were able to enjoy their color-blocked dinner under the $35,000 retail value tulip installation, dripping overhead.
The event was perfectly executed by Evoke Design & Creative who assisted in the creation of the color story concept. Guests moved down the table, slowly transferred through the rainbow from above to down below. Color blocking of yellows, orange, reds and pinks were achieved not only designing with tulips in mass but also the tapered candles on the table and completed with the food service.
It was an honor to be part of this special design team and to execute this beautiful event. When I began in this industry, I had no idea of the friendships I’d gain along the way and beautiful events I’d be part of. It’s tough to work all week long, fly out, execute an event of this size in 48 hours only to fly back home and work a new week. However for me it’s a passion, an opportunity and an inspiration. This floral industry has so much to offer and I’m constantly exploring and experiencing.
The next Field to Vase dinner will be on August 3, 2019 in Homer, Alaska at Joslyn Peonies. Stay tuned for your feed and inbox to be flooded with Peonies.
