2017 Goals: Keeping it Real

As we start to close the last chapter of 2016, it's that time of year to reflect on the past and project into the future. It's time to goal set!

There are so many worksheets and self help books to assist with this process that sometimes it can be nerve racking. However, these are good guides to help organize your thoughts and to be realistic with what you've achieved and what's still on the table. I don't know about you but I've got loads still on my table from 2016 that I need to reshuffle as we enter into this new year.

My biggest goal for 2017 is starting Franzie's Farms in Nova Scotia. This has been in the works for awhile now but with the land bought in 2016 and the summer of 2017 booked already for initial steps including site enabling (i.e. a road, electricity, plumbing, well, etc.) this is going to be a goal which will continue over the next few years. First things first, finish my online course which I started at the beginning of this year and refer often to my beautiful planner by Floret. Here's a sneak peak of my desk whilst preparing for January.

This planner is great as every month is broken down with tips on growing flowers as well as goals for the week and month. I've already filled Q1 so now it's just making sure that my goals are realistic and attainable. Anyone else have this problem of biting off more than you can chew?!

Another staple of my goal planning is this fabulous book, How To Style Your Brand by Fiona Humberstone. If you haven't come across this gem, I highly recommend it. I probably refer to it once a quarter to make sure I'm either on track or look for inspiration to rebrand, even if it is in small ways. So here is my little goal setting army, full of purpose and inspiration, which are relevant to where I am and where I want to be.

In addition to Franzie's Farms, there are several other goals laid out for 2017. Of course some of them are financially driven (we are a business and we like to support our families), others focus on our clients which are the heart of our brand and is what allows us to do what we do. At the top of my list is ultimately a healthy work/life balance. We all have this last goal on our list I'm sure - this isn't original or trendy. This is reality! My new way to tackle this is as follows:

  1. Delegate, I am not Superwoman no matter how much I wish I was.

  2. Stop chasing perfection, start focusing on purpose.

  3. Stop worrying, start living. "Worrying is like standing outside with an umbrella waiting for it to rain."

So flower lovers, I've literally laid out my 2017 goals to you, partly to be held accountable but also to hopefully inspire you to take the time to revaluate your life, your purpose, your direction. We never have all the answers, but "Without goals, and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set sail with no destination.” — Fitzhugh Dodson

Cheers to a brilliant year ahead,

Franzie x
